Dr Kai Liu
Dr Kai Liu is the Chair and Trustee of YanFu Foundation. He is an expert in the field of intercultural communication, cultural industries and economic sociology and is currently a Senior Lecturer in Economic Sociology at the University of Greenwich. He obtained both his PhD and MA degree from the University of Nottingham, UK. He held a number of positions in both academia and industry, including a Research Associate at the Aston Business School (2009-2011), Creative Industries Observatory at the University of Arts London (2007-2009) and the China Construction Bank (1999-2000). He is a member of the American Sociological Association, the British Academy of Management and the Academy of International Business. Dr Liu has strong links with the leading industrial, cultural and educational institutions in China and frequently advises them on the matters related to the internationalisation of higher education, intercultural communication and cultural industries.
Dr Jin Shang
Dr Jin Shang is a Deputy Chair and a Trustee of YanFu Foundation. He is a Principal Technologist working in the Compressors Department of Rolls-Royce Plc and he leads a team to validate the design system and the new technology developments for a future engine Fans sub-system module. Since Dr Shang completed his PhD study in the Mechanical Department of the University of Nottingham and joined Rolls-Royce in 2006, he has successfully delivered fans and compressors component designs for two certified civil large engines such as Trent1000 and Trent XWB. He has expertise in the areas of FE modelling, low and high temperature fatigue life assessment and the impact technology of bird impact and fan blade off assessment at the engine extreme events. Apart from this work, Dr Shang is very enthusiastic and volunteered to encourage young students to enjoy science and engineering subjects. He became an ambassador of a UK government-funded Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Network (STEMNET) program in 2008, representing Rolls-Royce Plc as a mentor to supervise a secondary school in Northampton on a forensic science coaching program in 2009. This was a Rolls-Royce science prize program. He has been supporting many primary and secondary school STEMNET projects.
Dr Kaiyu Lei
Dr Kaiyu Lei is the Deputy Chair and a Trustee of the YanFu Foundation. He is also the London regional council member of the Xiamen Alumni Union. He has conducted basic medical research at The Imperial College in London for over five years (2008-present). He obtained his BSc and MSc degrees at Xiamen University in China (2000-2007) and undertook further academic training at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, Holland (2007-2008) before winning a full-scholarship (IC Trust) to do his PhD at the Imperial College. He applies his bio-medical expertise to his special interest in endocrinology and human parturition. After being awarded the doctoral degree, he was employed as a Research Associate in order to continue his studies, primarily due to the outstanding work he has achieved in this field. He has published his work in several peer review journals and has also given lectures and presentations at national and international conferences. As a scientist, Kaiyu believes that education, science and human resources are the fundamental cornerstones of every nation. Thus international, cultural and educational exchanges, which are the central goals of the YanFu Foundation, would benefit not only countries but also individuals.
